Promptlink Communications Releases Enhanced 48-EMTA Capability for Cable Modem Test Platform™

Expanded capability provides highest capacity eMTA batch testing for PacketCable®-based CPE on the market today

Irvine, CA – May 7, 2007 - Promptlink Communications,  a provider of software applications for management of cable broadband networks and equipment, today announced the release of an enhanced version of Promptlink’s Cable Modem Test Platform (CMTP) that will test 48 eMTA in a single batch, providing more capacity and complete testing capabilities than any competing product on the market. The new product version will be available mid Q2 2007.

Promptlink’s CMTP is adding this capability to address increasing needs for testing of eMTA due to increased demand and churn of cable telephony services. According to a report recently released by In-Stat, worldwide cable telephony subscribers increased to over 22 million in 2006, up sharply from 15.8 million in 2005. As eMTA CPE have become an ever growing percentage of CPE being issued by Cable TV companies, the need to prescreen these devices has grown accordingly. With this new capacity to test up to 48 eMTA and other DOCSIS-based CPE in any combination of functionality, DOCSIS version or manufacturer, Promptlink’s CMTP has extended its technological lead in the CPE testing market.

Promptlink’s CMTP is currently used across North America and South America, with over a million CPE tested since 2004. The CMTP product tests eMTA and Cable Modems, along with standard and business-class cable modem routers across a wide spectrum of parameters designed to separate devices that fail to meet Cable System standards from those that will perform well in subscriber homes. By correctly identifying “problem” devices, cable operators can significantly reduce expenses incurred by unnecessary truck rolls, as well as reduce No Problem Found (NPF) charges that can be assessed by modem vendors during the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process. Promptlink’s Cable Modem Test Platform has filled the market need for a single, robust test platform created by the increased volume of EMTA modems. Promptlink continues to add enhancements to their products in order to meet the needs of cable operators worldwide.

Dr. Foad Towfiq, president and founder of Promptlink Communications, said, "This new testing capability reflects our commitment to our customer base, who have a growing need to test eMTA in the most efficient way. Promptlink believes that our Cable MSO customers deserve the most complete test regiment for their devices, and the capacity required to meet ever-increasing production demands.”
