Cable Plant Monitoring (CPM) is a real-time network device management tool for your DOCSIS network. Our CPM software handles all your DOCSIS cable modems, eMTA and cable modem termination systems (CMTS) along with other network devices. This allows you to readily see network problems, troubleshoot customer access issues, and easily deal with difficult management efforts, such as upgrading CPE firmware on a very large scale.
CPM is an enterprise application that helps you manage your network efficiently, thereby enabling you to control your DOCSIS network operational costs, while also increasing the uptime of your cable Internet resources, helping to increase your revenues. The bottom line is that our software helps you run a more profitable business.
CPM is network management software that polls your DOCSIS network, gathers device status and then displays it, while also storing data for later analysis. Through the hierarchical directory tree, you see at-a-glance status of your DOCSIS network. By drilling-down and selecting individual items, you see a detailed view of parameters for cable modems, eMTA, CMTS, and other equipment.
CPM has been designed to be massively scalable, with support for millions of Cable Modems. The client/server architecture supports any number of administrators or operators running the CPM console, creating a centralized view of the health of the data network, and leading to coordinated, accelerated troubleshooting and problem-fix operations. Through our distributed capabilities, CPM can be used at many sites, while being managed from central locations.
The CPM software is built from Java code, with a pure Java client for ubiquitous access. It features a modular design and architecture designed around API’s, allowing CPM to be easily tailored to integrate with any applications in your OSS environment.
CPM stores and manages the network device information in an embedded object database, for optimum performance. CPM runs on Solaris, Linux and other platforms, and may also be run with Oracle or other back-end database engines for use in a large integrated architecture.
The software is easy to install, easy to operate, and easy to get to a high return on your investment!

CPM knows about DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1 and DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem devices and CMTS. It accommodates these devices with native support for all DOCSIS features, and offers easy extensions to create scripts for custom management of CM’s in your cable plant. Furthermore, CPM supports any SNMP and MIB compliant devices, adding new devices easily and extending the range and capability of the software without custom coding. CPM will also support DOCSIS 3.0 capabilities in the near future, as it is deployed into the cable plant.
In conjunction with CPM, Promptlink operates a DOCSIS lab and provides DOCSIS services and support for our customers. With our specialized research efforts and specific skills in areas such as DOCSIS migration, Promptlink backs our software with superior support and on-demand consulting services.
CPM is currently in use by cable operators of all sizes, from 500 to 1,000,000
