Promptlink's DOCSIS Provisioning System (DPS) is a robust operational tool for use in active, dynamic provisioning of DOCSIS cable modems. Promptlink's DPS application software supports common provisioning functions, such as DHCP, TFTP and TOD. DPS includes an internal database, which keeps track of the policies for provisioning different levels of service for different subscribers. DPS has other advance features, such as communicating the modem information to the Network Management tool, as they come on line, through the SNMP inform command. DPS is an enterprise application that helps you operate your DOCSIS network more efficiently, reduces operating cost, increases the up time of your Internet cable network. |

DPS has the following features and functions:
- Multi threaded TFTP server optimized for DOCSIS environments (i.e. many requests for small files).
- Multi Threaded DHCP server with Option codes 12, 15, 60, 82 and 177 capable of supporting both DOCSIS and PacketCable devices.
- Both DHCP and TFTP engines are independent of data source.
- DHCP capable of distinguishing between 1.1 and 1.0 CMs and CPEs.
- DHCP server communicates with components of the system about ongoing client requests and responses, leading to faster and more efficient operations.
Promptlink DPS is currently intended for use as an engine, rather than being an application with a typical graphical user interface. It operates on Solaris or Linux operating systems, and is also suitable for use in embedded applications (such as within a DOCSIS cable modem termination system).
Promptlink continues to refine the product roadmap based upon customer feedback and planned product enhancements. DPS has the following future development plans and current work in progress:
1. SNMP control of DHCP and TFTP servers.
2. Capability to use SNMP Inform Requests to communicate with other applications regarding the status of provisioning operations.
